Outkasts Andre 3000 Slapped With $2 Million Lawsuit !

Outkasts Andre 3000 Slapped With $2 Million Lawsuit Over "Class Of 3000"

OutKast's Andre 3000, along with Cartoon Network and Turner Broadcasting, is facing a $2 million lawsuit for copyright infringement and breach of contract claims stemming from Andre's Class of 3000 cartoon series.
According to the Boston Herald, local postal worker Timothy McGee alleges the "characters, artwork, storylines [and] concepts" from Dre's Emmy-winning Cartoon Network series were all based on his ideas for an earlier project called The Music Factory.

"The artist known as Andre '3000' Benjamin was credited with the creation, executive production and starring role in 'Class of 3000,'" the lawsuit reads. "The similarities between the expression of Mr. McGee's work in The Music Factory and that of Class of 3000 are sufficiently detailed and pervasive."

While Dre's cartoon debuted November 2006, McGee claims he offered his series pitch to Cartoon Network executive Michael Lazzo in 1997 before being rejected. With both projects set in Atlanta's music scene and sharing similar characters including a "tough full-of-attitude female" character, his attorney Jerrold Neeff expects compensation.

"We've r equested $2 million in damages thus far," Neeff told the Boston Herald. "The rest remains to be seen."

In addition, McGee has claimed misappropriation of trade secrets and is requesting damages to including all the profits from the show's two seasons. Cartoon Network and Turner Broadcasting have also been included in the lawsuit. A rep for Dre and Cartoon Network/Turner Broadcasting was unavailable for comment at press time.

The New Dark Fire Robot II

Gibson Guitars has never been a company to rest on its laurels. When it introduced the Robot Guitar, people thought it couldn’t get better.

Well it just got better.

The New Dark Fire Robot II, is a techno marvel (and you knew this was in the works all along: what will Robot III be,

The Gibson Dark Fire Robot II has

P-90H Pickup on the neck, a Burstbucker 3 bridge pickup, a Piezo Bridge Pickup (and the pickups can be mixed and matched), VariableAcoustic Capability, Powerhead Tuners, and a Battery Box that holds for 500 tunings. Also incorporated is the PerfectSetup which optimizes how the strings sit on each fret. Top it off with locking tuners, Teflon-based frictionless nut, stud-locking bridge and you can do some seriously cool rockin’!

Best of all, if you just bought a Robot I, you can upgrade to the Robot II!

Rock on!
The Dark Fire is Gibson’s second robot guitar in so many years. This one is a beast. Three state-of-the-art pickups, robot-accurate frets and neck, “revolutionary rotary potentiometer.” Wonder what that is? The Dark Fire guitar “can play every single guitar tone ever.” Seem like a stretch? Come with me, and we shall spell out the doom that is the Dark Fire… !

Music Stocks Slumping,For the Majors !

In the mist of these most relevant and unforseen unexpected stock market crashes,
music-related stocks are preparing for another tumultuous week, now the norm on Wall Street. After a brutal October, November has been shaky at best, a broader storm that has punished otherwise solid concerns like Apple. On Friday, the Dow rebounded 248.02 points, landing at 8,943.81, a 2.85 percent gain. But post-Obama confidence was low among investors, and the broader week witnessed a 4.1 percent drop from 9,326.76.

The week was also unkind to music shares, a sign of the times. The robust Apple (AAPL) started the week at $105.64, only to slide to $98.24, a 7 percent drop. And despite a strong recent-quarter report, Live Nation (LYV) dipped 20.1 percent from $11.22, landing at $8.89. Similarly, rival Ticketmaster (TKTM) shed 18.9 percent to $7.71.

Others were also being buffeted. That includes Warner Music Group (WMG), which moved to $3.39 by the bell on Friday, a 19.7 percent decline on the week. The Orchard slipped 6.25 percent to $2.25, and Sirius XM Radio (SIRI) edged downward 25.7 percent to just 26-cents. Even Guitar Hero creator Activision Blizzard suffered a mild, 1.4 percent drop to $12.26, despite strong sales of the game last quarter.

Which is a strong indication that this is going to be a great time to be independent
and self contained as a label and artist because of the times ahead music will always
uplift the people and the digital downloading concepts will be the last foundations standing.

Glastonbury and Beyond for Jay-Z aka "Shawn Carter"

It was controversially announced earlier this history making(Obama wins the presidency) year on February 2, 2008 that Jay-Z would headline Glastonbury Festival in 2008, becoming the first major hip-hop artist to headline the British festival. He was blamed by some for relatively slow ticket sales for the festival, although a more likely cause is the preceding run of terrible weather and flooding that in 2007 made life at the festival very difficult. One of the more outspoken critics of his selection was Noel Gallagher of Oasis fame. In response to Gallagher's criticism, Jay-Z opened his Glastonbury set with a tongue-in-cheek cover of Oasis's iconic song Wonderwall. His Glastonbury performance was heralded as a successful response to pre-festival criticism. He also headlined many other summer festivals in 2008, including Roskilde Festival in Denmark, Hove Festival in Norway and O2 Wireless Festival in London.

Jay-Z also stated that after he finishing touring he's going to start another album.Timbaland has previously stated that he will be producing the entire album. Recently, however, Jay-Z went on record to say that it is not guaranteed to be a full Timbaland production.

During Kanye West's August 6 concert at Madison Square Garden, Jay-Z came out to perform a new song and he and Kanye proclaimed that it was to be on The Blueprint and more recently Jay-Z and hiphop rapper/producer Kanye West pen a song called "History" which refernences our new president elect Obama,Jay Z speaks about Barack Obama’s victory a couple nights ago with Angie Martinez from Hot 97fm online is where you can listen and download this interveiw hiphop is not dead not by a longshot its about to go 2-DA-NEXT-LEEVEL on a very positive note and we all can thank our universal creator the Great "Iam That Iam" for the change thats come to pass for us all.

Rapper T.I. Has Still Got The Heat!

During the last several months for atl hiphop rap star "TI" in his personal life there has being some very serious rides of not smooth bumps in the roads, but by his faith and favor in our creator he has shown resilience and perseverance to the world and the music business with his latest Cd "Paper Trail" and here are the lastest developments of those efforts .Kids went crazy once it was announced that TI would be performing at Roxborough High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Prior to even hitting the stage rumors were in full effect that the King of The South would be in the building.

Once he hit the stage there were no empty seats! Cameras were flashing, girls were screaming and all of the latest dance moves were on display in the auditorium. After the roars of the crowd calmed down TI encouraged the senior class of Roxborough High School by telling them to get involved! He opened the floor for questions, and stressed the need to be Patient while at the polls. The lines are expected to be very long so you must be Persistent and don’t allow any confusion to deter you from casting your ballot. In concluding his speech TI challenged the students to prove those wrong who claim that young people don’t vote!

After being asked multiple times what candidate he endorsed TI made it a point to stress to the students that their voting decisions should be solely based on there needs because if your casting your vote based on the decision of your favorite celebrity then you are doing yourself a disservice. The issues that face people are very different and you must be sure to choose the candidate that will impact your needs in a positive manner.

The surprise TI visit concluded by a young lady by the name of Shayna Safford sharing a poem she wrote for TI. She was not scared to share her poetry with all those in attendance and she informed me that this poem is something she always keeps with her. What a lucky girl she is to have had the opportunity to share it with TI.This goes to show us grown ups and the kids that even doe sometimes we all make the wrong choices and the decisions our faith in our creator the great "Iam That Iam" will always be the most powerful spirit to show the world the outcome if will stay focus.

Getting Signed to a Major Record Deal

As the this season of American Idol begins, the show has helped to perpetuate the notion that getting signed to a record label is easier than it really is. How many times have viewers seen Randy “The Dog” Jackson fondly remark to one of the show’s competitors, “I’d sign you tomorrow.” Or likewise, how many times has even Simon Cowell himself -- who certainly has not been shy in cutting down talent he believed did not make the cut -- nevertheless lavished praise on select candidates with such remarks as: “I don’t think you even needed this show to get a record deal.”

Comments such as these seem to imply that the competitor -- bless their heart -- could have otherwise strolled up to The Dog’s production offices or Simon’s Welshire estate, announced their presence, and wowed them with their rendition of everyone’s favorite karaoke classics, all of which we are treated to hear weekly on American Idol. In truth, it just ain’t so.

The fact of the matter is that if you (i) don’t write original material, and (ii) don’t perform as part of a group or band (or play an instrument yourself), you are at a severe disadvantage when it comes to the possibility of being signed to a major record label. For these candidates, in today’s market, auditioning on the show is probably the only realistic chance they’ll ever get. Or, to put the point in Simon’s terms: they do need the show to get a record deal. Here’s why.

There are many, many people out there with great voices -- more talent than there are slots available on major label rosters. Imagine if each of these individuals (not to mention the untalented ones) routinely bombarded A&R representatives at the major labels with unsolicited demos consisting entirely of cover songs. Even if the reps were willing and able to listen to the unsolicited material (which, in reality, they are not), where would that leave them? What good does it do to have a database of 10,000 capable singers, each of whom has to be developed from the ground up in order to bring them to market? What separates one from the other? That’s not to say that one of those ten thousand can’t possibly be plucked from the files with some timing and luck. But it is to say that the odds of being that one person out of ten thousand are not good.

In other words, pasting some cover songs on a demo -- no matter how well sung -- won’t distinguish you from your competitors, because there are plenty of other talented folks doing the same thing. Unlike American Idol, where each contestant -- no matter how worthy or unworthy -- gets their chance to shine before the judges, and where weeks are spent attempting to parse the field of candidates down based on singing ability and “star potential,” in the real world, demo tapes sent to labels by these same competitors would be thrown in the garbage. In today’s market, labels are not developing artists; they are acquiring them. This means that labels want: (i) artists with radio-ready original material; (ii) an act polished enough to be promoted with minimal development costs; and (iii) some strong “buzz” surrounding the artist. Now we have criterion that gives A&R reps a more workable screening process, and which minimizes their investment costs and risk. After all, this is the music business, not the music charity.

Of course, this presents a problem. How can a “mere” singer -- a singer who, despite loads of natural talent and ability, does not write original material and does not perform with a band -- win gigs at venues that allow for opportunities to showcase the artist’s talent and generate buzz? Without a band performing with the singer, and without original material to actually perform, the singer is not bookable. And therein lie a greater concern that the majors are faced with when the N.Y. Post decided to focus on the trend of declining compensation for record execs. For example, incoming EMI CEO Elio Leoni-Sceti will be paid less than $1 million a year plus incentives. "The era of the standard promo guy making $350,000-$700,000 a year is over," said one source familiar with the situation. "There's not a lot of million-plus players on the label level outside of the label heads."

There are exceptions, of course. While WMG Chairman Edgar Bronfman Jr. has a base pay of $1 million, he can pocket a bonus of up to $6 million a year. He collected $3.4 million in total compensation in 2007, according to a regulatory filing. The topic of music industry pay stepped into the spotlight last week when one Wall Street analyst took Lyor Cohen to task after Cohen sold a quarter of his shares in the struggling company for a whopping $6.8 million. Critics charge that kind of money is symbolic of the business' excesses and a pay scale that is out of whack with its declining fortunes.

In contrast to other media executives, CBS boss Les Moonves collected $33.7 million last year, while Comcast chief Brian Roberts made $38.9 million and Disney CEO Robert Iger made $20.71 million, according to Forbes’ latest roundup of CEO pay.

Multiple sources said that labels have cut back on long-term contracts with guaranteed money. New deals tend to be more performance-driven and are often limited to 2-to-3 years in length. Private-equity players investing in music are also demanding belt-tightening. Pali Capital analyst Richard Greenfield—a noted critic of the salaries for Warner's senior execs—pointed out last week that the company is scaling back compensation for its employees.

One source who controls the purse strings for a major record label has a different take than Greenfield on the industry' executive compensation. According to this source, music companies are suffering a brain drain because the plunge in their financial fortunes are preventing them from competing aggressively for top talent. "Record companies can't keep their top people anymore," this source said.So now new artists have to consider what the key concepts are now and this is share and share alike which is the reasons the at the end of the day you just want to build new music fans and hope they will love you efforts and your creations of song, music and performance well enough to wna to download it and share it with all of their friends on a social level.

Song Investmenting A New Fan Incentive!

As the web becomes more of the platform for breaking new music and hot new recording artists and bands.SongVest is now expanding its song investment model by partnering with ReverbNation. SongVest allows outsiders to invest in songs from major artists, and (hopefully) realize a resulting royalty stream. The offering includes songs from Garth Brooks, Aerosmith, and Cher, though the ReverbNation marketing partnership brings the concept to lesser-known acts and content.

ReverbNation draws participation from roughly 250,000 artists, most of whom are emerging or unknown. A portion of that group is also mid-level, and searching for ways to better promote their content across digital channels. That includes GB Leighton, a country-style songwriter with albums sales north of 70,000. GB, a ReverbNation artist, has already received $4,600 from the appropriately-titled, "Love for Sale," part of an initial pilot.

If GB is getting off the ground, others are truly on the ground floor. "Imagine buying in on tracks from the next Fall Out Boy or My Chemical Romance before they hit the big time," said David Prohaska, cofounder and CMO of SongVest.

The New Social Persuasive "Enlightment"

As we are moving closer to a change of the mind control factor that has repeatedly bought all of the mind programming efforts of the past to a crumbleing halt to socially control the masses and money and most of the spending habits on all levels. This nodoubt is the right time to look at our planet and see and realize that the only power is spiritual inner power, and now in order for us all to move forward as a race of
Infinite Beings we must learn to respect the universal laws of Karma: This law states that what you cause will have an effect. If you go out and do something bad, it will come back to you with something bad happening to you. If you do good for others, good things happen to you. By knowing this law, you will understand the power of the mind, and how your actions can speak for you in many ways good or bad. This power can hurt you or harm you, depending on how you use it. The principle here is to know you can create good or bad through your actions, because there will always be an effect no matter what. This was already written and until we as a people understand we must now put no false hopes in a goverment body of lairs before the inner universal creators presence or the worst is yet to come just like it did in rome and
egypt,4,000 years ago.
The Neo-Cons/Cheaters are all receiveing their Karma right back at them selfs we all must pray and thats is what the spirit has said "All of These Times And Events Where All Ready Written" Be Of Good Cheer Because we that Beleive in a higher power will always overcome this wicked world and its secrets that lead to dceit and failure!

The Concepts of Digital Record Labels

Do you need a record deal? With everyone talking about how much the music industry is "changing" these days, many musicians wonder if they really need to worry about demos and labels any more, or if all of that traditional music business stuff is just so passe. In fact, you've probably heard a lot of people tell you that you definitely DON'T need a label - that labels are only taking a cut of your earnings for something that you could be doing by yourself anyway. The truth really isn't quite that easy.

First - yes, you CAN release your record yourself. There are more avenues than ever before for indie music in general, and that means musicians have a better shot at success with a self release now. But make no mistake about it - there's nothing especially revolutionary in the model of self releasing your record. You're not "skipping" the record label - you're really starting a record label. If you're serious about selling your music and trying to make a living, then you are going to have to do everything a record label would do - both in terms of work and finances. The better question is whether you NEED a label - really, you don't - but whether or not you are ready, willing and able to do everything involved in running your own label. And as we proceed towards an awareness of what it really means to socially network and create a buzz following by just applying ourselfs the closer we all will learn that this self empowerment time period is very important to advancing our passions and careers to DA-NEXT-LEVEL!

Majors Labels Are Now Seeing Digital Is The Key!

For the major labels, MySpace Music is the cumulation of more than 18 months of experimentation in new business

models and a launching pad for their digital music strategies for the future. While detractors continue to level

criticisms against them for their alleged role in hindering the digital music market with complicated licensing

demands and other limitations, the majors have largely reassessed their approach to the Internet, spurred by the

continued slide in physical music sales.

During the year and a half leading up to the launch, the majors have signed unprecedented deals opening the door to

ad-supported free streaming, digital rights management-free music sales and reduced licensing costs in return for
revenue share and/or company equity.

The joint venture of the News Corp. subsidiary and Universal Music Group, Sony BMG Music Entertainment, Warner Music

Group, EMI Music and Sony/ATV Music Publishing, MySpace Music Service represents a turning point for the recording

industry and MySpace itself has now place the recording industry in better light to hopfully gain

the trust of the future digital music and its new unlimited support system which is the social networking, promotions, marketing and the internet the www concept has changed the way of control and its deceit to an open forum and its focus of we can do this ourselfs now with the new digital thinking ways of this y2k generation which now have seen the we don't need a major to sell our music for $10.00 and get only a $1.00 and 15cents back in sales ,wow this really is the new deal for an artist whom now can get $7.00 now because of this new digital distribution and social media outlets.Even as we proceed to this new way of thinking and inner faith and power of just applying the useful new tools and outlets marketed to us some undevelop artists still want a major record deal and thats only because of mental programming with the control factor of this is the onlyway to the top and really the key element is making a living with your passions and gifts.Experience and its ups and downs with some deals and no deals with bigger bills will always reach one and teach some but at lease the talent searchs, showcases etc are on the minds of the majors because they will not survive it they can't sell no product and the lifelines are and always will be hot new acts and trendsetters.

All these elements are present in the MySpace Music deal. As such, the service represents less of an experiment and

more of a template for future agreements.

"It highlights the shift in our business to bring business models to the market that meet where the demand is for

our music," UMG's eLabs division executive vp Rio Caraeff said. "It's the single largest thing we've done to change

the way we do business around the way the customer wants to experience music."

Caraeff says to expect further flexibility in digital music deals in the near future. Among other things, this

means including access to the Universal catalog in software development kits that give developers the ability to

create new applications with built-in music licensing.

"You'll see more from us going forward in this area," he said. "The notion of creating and enabling more innovation

around music than would normally occur under our prior modes of doing business is very important to us. We

recognize that the ways we can think of music are not the only ways music can be used online. We would like to see

tens of thousands of instances of music being used in creative ways in interesting apps online with less friction

and less hassle."

For MySpace, the service represents a significant expansion from a simple social networking site billed as "a place

for friends" to a content-driven service billed as "a place for music," using its core community features as its

foundation.

"The whole consumption patterns for both music and video have changed a great deal in the last five years," MySpace

co-founder and CEO Chris DeWolfe said. "We wanted to put together a music service consistent with those changing

patterns and layer a business model around it."

The social networking giant has long served two masters -- the artists with profiles on the service and the music

fans with the same. There are more than 5 million bands with MySpace profiles, and while MySpace doesn't provide a

specific breakdown, the vast majority are independent or unsigned artists.

Adobe The Trend Setters Of Digital Innovation.....!

The term innovation may refer to both radical and incremental changes in thinking, in things, in processes or in services. When it comes to a well branded multimedia company that has the visions, talent and services Adobe comes to mind for all multimedia creators, webdesigners etc.

Adobe Systems has introduced an all-new Creative Suite 4 product line.

The new software, an update of Creative Suite 3 launched last year, emphasizes on a simplified workflow system, Flash integration, support for community feature expansions and application interoperability within the suite.

The Creative Suite 4 features new, improved tools and application interoperability that will aid creative process operations for professionals in print, interactive, web, audio-video production and mobile, the company said. The new software includes 13 standalone products, 14 integrated technologies, and seven services.

Amazon.com had 'accidentally' put up Adobe InDesign CS4 for Mac details on their website with screenshots and feature details four days back. In the CS4 product lineup, Adobe offers CS4 Design, CS4 Web, CS4 Production Premium and CS4Master Collection.

Adobe has been working to improve the workflow through seamless integration and interoperability amongst standalone applications without disturbing the suite ecosystem: Changes made to an object in one application are seamlessly tracked and understood by other application from the CS4 product family.

After buying Macromedia, the company has been working towards Flash integration in its standalone applications. Hence, Adobe has introduced flash-based panels within individual suite members which are faster than those in previous versions. Also, the preset styles in pull-down menus aids quick-shifting amongst workspace layouts. Besides that a number of features are added in this update. Like in the CS4, Photoshop will be able to use the GPU power for intensive tasks and speed up the operations. A graphics card supporting OpenGL 2.0 and Shader Model 3.0 is necessary, along with a minimum 2GHz processor, and 2GB RAM.

More SuperStar Artists Prepare for Digital Futures

It all Started with the recording artist Formally know as Prince .In May 2000 Prince dropped the symbol O(+> he adopted as a name. He had used the symbol because he considered his record contract with Warner Bros. Records oppressive, which ended in 2000.And from his efforts as a free agent prince enabled the digital concept of his own website where his fans would have direct access to his music and the rest became an historic event(the first digital artist to sale over $7,000,000.00 in the downloads digital concept)of what is seen as now a smart business move by many past decade superstar recording stars, that now are starting see that the majors can't compete with the digital concepts and have no more control over the media and the old payola system which went something like this "Pay-for-play," in which airtime is bought but the payments are disclosed, is still around. In January 1998, Flip/Interscope Records paid a Portland, Oregon radio station $5,000 to play one Limp Bizkit song 50 times over a five-week period. The band was able to generate enough interest to play a successful concert there. Other stations showed interest in their music, and Limp Bizkit broke into the music biz in a big way--a great argument for free enterprise if you're a Limp Bizkit fan. However, the argument against pay-for-play, even if the parties are upfront about it, is that it allows big labels to buy their artists' way onto the charts. So this is where we are at now the new digital multimedia sharing, marketing and promotions of media platform where everybody is all on the same playing feild to control their careers and can't get cheated no more out of whats real and whats fake the next superstar artist to know see this change come and also was apart of that old payola system of pay for play, and now less sales is none other than janet jackson as apart of the change thats coming and has conceptually arrived(they can't pay for play no more so now the real talent can be heard seen and make a living form their passions and life long dreams.

After less than two years on Island Def Jam (IDJ) Janet Jackson has announced her departure from the storied label.

Janet inked a lucrative deal with Island in July of 2007 and released her first album, Discipline, on the label in early 2008. When sales failed to meet expectations, the Grammy award-winning singer expressed her dissatisfaction with Island Def Jam(IDJ) telling the reported media outlets that the label stopped pushing the disc.(Pay4Play) its over now.

“They just stopped all promotion whatsoever on the album,” she said in a previous interview.

Janet has since asked to be released and Island Def Jam has complied.

“At her request, the record label has agreed to dissolve their working relationship with the popular artist,” Jackson’s rep said in a statement. “Now, more than 20 years after the release of her iconic album, Control, Janet will have autonomy over her career, without the restrictions of a label system.”

According to Jackson’s publicist, she is looking forward to being one of the first superstar artists to have the individual freedom that comes along with being a free agent.

Currently on the road for the first time in 7 years, Jackson’s “Rock Witchu Tour" features LL Cool J and Donnie Klang. It kicked off on September 10th in Vancouver, BC and will make stops in major cities across the United States and Canada.

Social Networking Is Really A Digital Way Of Life

In our world its common awareness that people are getting busier with their lives day by day, social networking sites are doing a great job of bringing friends, families and even strangers closer
. Just imagine the joy of finding your long lost child- hood best friend on a social networking site like orkut.com or classmates.com. Most of us have gone through this experience and we all know that it is something that cannot be described easily in words.

Apart from connecting with old friends, you get to meet a whole lot of new people on these social networking web sites, and contrary to popular belief, not all of them are fakes. There are a wide number of good people like you who are out in the wide wide cyber world who are just as lonely as you are and are looking for like minded friends or companions. And a number of them have also succeeded at it. In fact it is so common that we all know people who met on line and are happily married today.

While almost everyone is aware of the advantages of social networking for individuals, not many businesses are aware of the huge potential that this has in store for them. Joining a social networking site is one of the best and easiest ways of advertising about your business. What is more is that it is absolutely free. And on top of this, most such web sites will give you ample space to talk about your products and services It is a great method of increasing your client base and you are not even restricted by geographical boundaries. So while you can make a community of local businesses in order to garner your local target customer, you can also join communities of other similar businesses in order to be conspicuous to the overseas buyer who is sitting in another country or continent. It is an absolute win-win situation for you, so if haven’t joined a site till now, it is time that you did it right away because the streets is listen and the universal is watching.....

Bug Music Publishing Secures a Major Step In Investment Capital($200,000.000.00)

The signs of positive news and
opportunities for songwriters and music producers worldwide. One can't help but think just as the media injects nothing but fear and rumors of wars and problems all over the worldly globe the universe reveals whats really going on behind the closed doors in the board rooms of entertainment and investment banks this my people is just speckle of whats to come check this out its really very enlighten for us all.
Bug Music Secures New $200 Million Credit Facility Led By JP MorganBug Music, Inc., one of the world's largest independent music publishers, has secured a new $200,000,000 credit facility, which can be increased to $250,000,000. The facility, priced at the London interbank offered rate (Libor) plus 2.50%, was led by investment bank JP Morgan, it was announced today by Bug Music CEO John Rudolph."Oursound business fundamentals and practices continue to be rewarded as reflected by the facility size and attractive rate, in spite of a very difficult credit market. The significant upsizing of our credit facility will enable Bug Music to continue to have the financial resources to pursue acquisition opportunities and will enable us to continue to grow the company effectively," stated Rudolph.Rudolph added, "Jason Somerville and the JP Morgan's team in the Entertainment Industries Group are a great partner and have again demonstrated their ability to deliver. In the past two years, our competitors were often overly aggressive in their M&A activities whereas we were viewed as conservative. Nowthis discipline is paying off and is evidenced by JPMorgan and eight othersponsor banks joining the facility. Bug Music is a rapidly growing, highly profitable publisher with great prospects for continued growth."Thomas McGrath, Bug Music's Chairman, noted, "Bug Music continues to show "best in class" management and profitable growth through its M&A activity and its creative collaborations with its valued writers. With a music library of more than 250,000 copyrights, and offices now in seven cities across the US and Europe, Bug Music has emerged as the largest, most important independent music publisher dedicated tobuilding a business for the long-term. We are excited to be a part of this great growth story in music publishing and look forward to continuing our long-term partnership."Bug Music's recent activity has begun to redefine the nature of the traditional publishing company, by creating unique and innovative deals that allow for more creative collaboration beyond administration. The company's most recent deals have included the signing of Kara DioGuardi, American Idol's newest judge and one of the industry's hottest and most sought-after songwriter and producer; the acquisition of DioGuardi's vast catalog of hits by such artists as Christina Aguilera, Jonas Brothers, and Celine Dion; an equity stake and partnership agreement with Arthouse Entertainment; the acquisition of music production leader Selectracks; and the acquisition of Iggy Pop's catalog.

BestBuy Is Now On The Digital BandWagon!

This is another key insight of things to come as we proceed to the future of all things digital.
Best Buy has now purchased Napster for $121 million, an all-cash deal that values the company at $2.65 per share.  The buyout, confirmed Monday morning, gives Best Buy a digital store to complement its hardware footprint.  "We can foresee Napster acting as a platform for accelerating our growth in the emerging industry of digital entertainment, beyond music subscriptions," said Dave Morrish, executive vice president at Best Buy.

The per-share valuation essentially doubles the price from Friday, part of a relatively unenthusiastic response from Wall Street.  Napster board members approved the move, though the exit appears more of a relief than a bonanza.  The purchase includes Napster's cash holdings of $67 million, an account that has been eroding over the past few years.  Currently, Napster carries a subscriber base of roughly 700,000, and the company now offers MP3s on the download side.

At the bell on Friday, shares closed at $1.36, and shares bumped upward to $2.52 on Monday.  NAPS has dropped nearly 57 percent over the past year, and nearly 62 percent over the past two years.  Napster lost $16.5 million on revenues of $127.5 million for the fiscal year ending March 31st.  The deal is expected to close during the current quarter.

The T-Pain Goes Digital

Hello World This Just goes to show the future is now and the playing is level ground where 1st will be last and last will be first(The spiritually concern no what it means)

Grammy Award-Winning singer, song writer, and producer T-Pain recently launched his much anticipated full digital independent record label Nappy Boy Digital. The label’s mission is to create a direct artist to consumer connection without the constraints of the traditional major labels. Nappy Boy Digital is an obvious next step for record labels who may have finally realized that the Internet is a friend and not a foe. But as I learn more about the label, I can’t help but wonder if T-Pain squandered this opportunity to make a lasting effect in the music industry.

It’s clear from reading the press release and my multiple visits to the Nappy Boy Digital website that Nappy Boy Digital is simply nothing more than a record label that will be using internet as their sole distribution method. Well it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that as internet music sales continue to rise and CD sales continue to decline, that a primary online distribution method is a no brain-er. What I was expecting from the subsequent launch of NBD was for T-Pain to use this opportunity to change the way record companies use the internet to market, build relationships with their fan base, and build communities surrounding their artist’s music. Lynne D has been profiling artists who have been on the leading edge of harnessing the power of the internet and social media, but what we are yet to see is a record label who has successfully grouped some of the most successful social media tools together into a package that can be duplicated for every artist on their roster on their very own web property. This is obviously not what T-Pain had in mind by branding his label as a digital record label.

T-Pain has failed to understand that everything on the web generally ties into one another; great music combined with social, downloads, and ringtones will create a following who will in turn use these tools to evangelize your music. Harnessing these tools collectively while giving your audience the ability to instantly own your music, can create a great reach with a very small budget. Instead of really impacting the music industry NBD will go down as a good opportunity squander by short sighted thinking.

Video Wars: Not Just Yet | Black Web 2.0

I was so excited when someone told me they saw the new John Legend ft. Andre 3000 video on MTV. I went straight to YouTube to search for it, and clicked on the first link that came up. Imagine my surprise when the video was branded Yahoo! That got me thinking though. YouTube really IS the video king. I can’t even think about how many projects I’ve worked on that included video thus included research on online video players. The main theme that’s out there for sites is, even if they’re going to host their own video, they need to have some of their content on YouTube to drive traffic back to their own site. This of course, makes me both happy and sad. I am happy because amazingly obscure videos no one would have heard of (It’s so cold in the D anyone?) or hard to find videos can be found on YouTube. However, the quality is horrific (though I have been spotting some super high quality videos popping up like this opening for the japanese cartoon Moyashimon). You might be asking, why does this matter? As more and more video content goes digital, I gurantee that more and more Black video content will be online and the gap between Black broadcast video and Black online video will close. It is important as all these new black media sites that are incorporating video know where to put their stuff to gain traffic and properly engage in all that cool web 2.0 community stuff: YouTube (plus, professional content is more than likely going to be what ends up driving revenue on YouTube and I heard something about profit sharing with content owners and ad revenue). That being said, I still love vimeo for the quality and community aspects, and I am really hoping that they continue to have growth. Their HD channel is awesome… so awesome I’d say it looks shiny and new every time I see it. What is your favorite non-YouTube, community driven video site?

The Social Blogging Concept,Wow This is Big Time Digital Expression..

The Social Blogging Concept,Wow This is Big Time Digital Expression..

In a world where you must interact with others, your precise personality DNA will pinpoint exactly how to attract

the maximum money, wealth and riches...
Here is a startling realization... as human beings we are anatomically the same but we are NOT wired the same

inside... And no matter how much knowledge you have, and despite all the best intentions in the world... you will

at times sabotage yourself in non-conscious ways - thanks to your personality filter "flow blockers"...

Each of us filters information and reacts to the world through a lens of perception called a personality filter, or

our personality DNA. Because this is the way that you have always seen the world, you are often unaware that it is

a perception unique to yourself.

It is so ingrained it has become transparent to you...

Developed as a result of genetic predisposition, early childhood environment and reinforced through your

experiences and self-talk - your personality filter or DNA can create many problems in your interaction with others

- and in how you perceive information.

This also explains why most self-development courses don't work - they speak to a common denominator – a sort of

average type. But in reality there is no average person - each has their own individual personality filter or DNA.

And here is something to consider - since almost anything you want to achieve in life involves interaction with

other individuals, understanding their personality DNA becomes enormously beneficial...

It can mean the difference between communication breakdowns and breakups... or insanely successful business

ventures or intimate and enduring personal relationships... the difference between frustration, disappointment and

bewilderment... or riches and happiness in all areas of your life...
Courage, Hope, Wisdom, Intelligence, Compassion, and most importantly your desire for Self-Improvement which is a

very important factor in our social expressions(we all really need each other we will never get around this point

of networking.

Check your "Inner Spirit Its Hidden Key To All Our Gifts and Talents." The mental solution!
No willpower, self-discipline or character required...Just Good Social Networking and the good word of mouth talk promotions game plan, lets face it if nobody talked about the concept and vision of what is called blogging it would still just be a forum and part of a chatroom of a website, no nonsense ideas always markets nothing into
something from word of mouth.

A Sign Of The Times Helps New Digital Artist

With the Internet now being a viable source for obtaining music, netlabels have emerged. Depending on the ideals of the net label, music files from the artists may be downloaded free of charge or for a fee that is paid via Paypal or an online payment system. Some of these labels also offer hard copy CDs in addition to direct download. Most net labels acknowledge the Creative Commons licensing system thus reserving certain rights for the artist. Digital Labels are the latest version of a 'net' label. Whereas 'net' labels were started as a free site or just a hobby point, digital labels seek to give the major record industry a real run for their money. Now its All in the little guys control, and the majors are justing starting to feel the sign of these new times in this digital stage where the we the creators will receive our rightful shares.

In the 1990s, due to the widespread use of home studios, consumer recording technology, and the Internet, independent labels began to become more commonplace. Independent labels are often artist-owned (although not always), with a stated intent often being to control the quality of the artist's output. Independent labels usually do not enjoy the resources available to the "big four" and as such will often lag behind them in market shares. Often independent artists manage a return by recording for a much smaller production cost of a typical big label release. Sometimes they are able to recoup their initial advance even with much lower sales numbers.

On occasion, established artists, once their record contract has finished, move to an independent label. This often gives the combined advantage of name recognition and more control over one's music along with a larger portion of royalty profits. Singers Dolly Parton, Aimee Mann and Prince, among others, have gone this route. Historically, companies started in this manner have been re-absorbed into the major labels (two examples are Frank Sinatra's Reprise Records, which has been owned by Warner Music for some time now, and Herb Alpert's A&M Records, now owned by Universal Music Group). Similarly, Madonna's Maverick Records (started by Madonna with her manager and another partner) was to come under control of Warner Music when Madonna divested herself of controlling shares in the company.

There are many independent labels; folk singer Ani DiFranco's Righteous Babe Records is often cited as an ideal example. The singer turned down lucrative contracts from several top-name labels in order to establish her own New York-based company. Constant touring resulted in noteworthy success for an act without significant major funding. Ani and others from the company have spoken on several occasions about their business model in hopes of encouraging others.

Some independent labels become successful enough that major record companies negotiate contracts to either distribute music for the label or in some cases, purchase the label completely.

On the punk rock scene, the DIY ethic encourages bands to self-publish and self-distribute. This approach has been around since the early 1980s, in an attempt to stay true to the punk ideals of doing it yourself and not selling out to corporate profits and control. Such labels have a reputation for being fiercely uncompromising and especially unwilling to cooperate with the big six (now big four) record labels at all. One of the most notable and influential labels of the Do-It-Yourself attitude was SST Records, created by the band Black Flag. No labels wanted to release their material, so they simply created their own label to release not only their own material but the material of many other influential underground bands all over the country. Ian MacKaye's Dischord is often cited as a model of success in the DIY community, having survived for over twenty years with less than twelve employees at any one time

In the music industry, a record label can be a brand and a trademark associated with the marketing of music recordings and music videos. It is more commonly the company that manages such brands and trademarks; coordinates the production, manufacture, distribution, promotion, and enforcement of copyright protection of sound recordings and music videos; conducts A&R; and maintains contracts with recording artists and their managers.

Generally, recorded music needs a record label in order to be widely known, reviewed, heard on media outlets such as radio or television, and in order to be available to buy in stores, although the Internet has changed this to some extent.

Record labels may be small, localized, and "independent", or they may be part of a large international media group, or somewhere in between. The largest 4 record labels are called major labels.[1] A sublabel is a label that is part of, but trades under a different name from, a larger record company. Now with the emerge of Digital Distribution systems and revelant content leading the way(myspace, facebook, reverbnation, itunes, fyi stores ect..)the greater revenue share being now more greater than before in the history of the recording business of music. And now we can embrace a new format and sell our music for a fair price, when somebody, with a few lines of code, no investment cost, no creative input, and no marketing expense simply gives it away? How does this square with the level playing field of the capitalist system? In Napster's brave new world, what free market economic model supports our ability to compete? The touted new paradigm that the Internet gurus tell us we must adopt sounds to me like good, old- fashioned trafficking in stolen goods.

So all welcome the technological advances and cost-savings of the Internet. This must be done without destroying the artistic diversity and the international success that has made our intellectual property industries the greatest in the world. This is just the end of a brand new begining which goes back to the old saying ,What goes around comes back around.
